The Process

Exterior House Painting

At Signature Painting we have found through experience that a systematic approach helps us to deliver the quality job that we have promised you.

Below are the general steps we will take on your project. Your situation may vary depending upon your needs as outlined on your Proposal.

Wash.

As per your proposal, areas are either power washed or hand washed to remove dirt and mildew.

Surface Preparation.

Based on your proposal, all loose or peeling paint will be scrapped and sanded as necessary. Top of the line caulking will be used to fill areas that were previously caulked and may be failing. We prime all areas where there is a bare surface of (wood, metal, etc.) with high quality primer. Loose or failing stucco will be scraped or wire brushed. Cracks smaller then an inch but bigger then a hairline crack will be filled with an elastomeric caulking. Larger cracks or holes will be filled with stucco patch, and hairline cracks will be filled during the paint application.

Paint.

Premium quality paint is applied either by sprayed, roller, or brush. In general we spray all areas that can be sprayed. On stucco surfaces and some woodsiding we back-roll in order to push the paint into the surface to assure proper coating and to give a uniform finish. Areas that cannot be sprayed are done by roller or brush. Two coats is recommended especially if you are doing a color change.

Clean.

Clean up is done daily, as well as at the completion of our work. Paint chips are removed and all our materials are packed up and stored neatly.

Inspect.

After our own inspection, we will then do a final walk around with you to assure that you are satisfied with the work we have done. We generally ask for a letter of recommendation and any other feedback from you.
